  THE MUKHI HOUSE MUSEUM HAS A FASCINATING HISTORY THAT GOES THROUGH SEVERAL CHAPTERS SINCE ITS CONSTRUCTION IN 1921 1921 - 1947: A Family Home Built by Jethanand Mukhi, a wealthy Sindhi Hindu businessman, the house served as a luxurious residence for the Mukhi family for about 26 years. The house was a center of social activity and even hosted prominent figures like former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. 1947 - 1957: The Impact of Partition With the partition of India in 1947, many Sindhi Hindus, including a large portion of the Mukhi family, migrated to India. Though some family members continued to live in or visit the house until 1957, the property's occupancy started to dwindle. 1957 - 2008: Changing Hands and Deterioration After the Mukhi family's significant presence waned, the house went through a period of changing ownership. It came under the control of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and later housed various government entities, including a school. Unfortuna
